Cover story

The covers of Ivory Tower are a reflection of their time. Since the early 1950s, when it began as a column in the Minnesota Daily, the Tower has been a forum for student-produced long-form journalism, creative writing, and art. (Garrison Keillor, ’66 B.A., and Regents Professor and Distinguished McKnight University Professor Patricia Hampl, ’68 B.A., were among its editors.) It ceased publication in 1969 but was brought back in 2006 by the U’s Department of English. Today, students enroll in a class that produces it as an annual art and literary journal. The Ivory Tower Anniversary Fund, a recently established endowment, covers printing and other expenses.
