Couture for the cold

The thermometer may plunge below zero, but that doesn’t put the chill on fashion at the University of Minnesota’s Goldstein Museum of Design. Named for Harriet and Vetta Goldstein, who taught home economics at the U until the 1940s, the museum houses more than 34,000 objects, many of which were donated by individuals. Other gifts have allowed the museum to thrive, expand, and grow its holdings over the past 40 years. Here, we showcase pieces from its collection that have helped us weather Minnesota’s winters.
