Hanna and her herd

Terry Tollefson

“I love my cows. They’re my pride and joy,” says Hanna Ruckheim, ’20 B.S. The University of Minnesota Crookston grad has been building a herd of Simmental cattle on her family’s farm near Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, since she was 15. She now has eight cows and five calves.

This fall, Ruckheim will teach agricultural education in Verndale, Minnesota. She credits her career choice to professor Lyle Westrom, who established a scholarship that she received. “He shaped my college career and who I will be as a teacher.”
